How to Remove Temporary Files from your Computer
What are “Temporary” files?
Temporary files are files created by the computer Operating System to:
- “hold information temporarily” while a file —a needed working file— is being created.
- The deleting of temporary files should be a regular task.
Process 1
- Click the File Explorer icon on the Taskbar.
- Click the This PC icon on the left of Explorer.
- Double Click the C:\ Drive to view the contents of this ‘Directory’.
- Double Click the Windows Folder to see the contents of this ‘Directory’.
- Open the Temp Folder.
- Delete any files and folders present in the Temp Folder
(you may have to skip several files or folders—this is normal.)
Process 2
- Right-Click the Windows Start Icon.
- Click ‘Run’—just above in the left side icon list.
- In the entry window type %temp% and Click OK.
- Select all the files and folders listed in the Window opening and delete them.
(you may have to skip several files or folders—this is normal.)
Process 3
- Click the Windows Start Icon.
- Click the Settings Icon.
- Click Update & Security.
- On the right Click Check Storage.
- When the checking has settled, Double-Click on Temporary Files
- Tick all Boxes, but NOT Downloads
- Click Remove Files
- The removal process will begin, which may take some time.
