How to Check for Updates to your Installed programmes

When you run ‘Windows Updates’ you update the Operating System and any associated Microsoft programmes you have installed: Office 365 (now Microsoft 365) is one example.

You may have several other programmes installed, such as Photo Editing Software or Family History programmes, such as Rootsmagic etc. The list goes on.

Usually with any software programme, there is a need to check for updates at some point and this is often done by:

  • Clicking on the Help Menu
  • And then on the Check for Updates link

The Check for Updates link may be in another menu, so go through the given navigation options until you find it.

It is a good recommendation to check for updates for extra programmes straight after their installation and to make checks regularly afterwards.

Some prime examples for update needs are Skype, and any Browsers you have.
